Baneshwar Temple

A very ancient temple built on an island between the fast flow of Narmada is a SHIVALAY, it is believed that in the Dwapar era, Banasur had pleased Lord Shiva with hard penance here. Construction of the Baneshwar Mahadev Temple is said to be about one thousand years old in 9th to 10 th century. Traingular walls of the temple is a fine sample of ancient technique which protects the temples from the sharp currents. The peak of the temple was destroyed after a strong flood which has been repaired.
